If you’re sick of over-processed pop that blinds you with it’s shiny, white teeth and tempts you with it’s perfectly tan skin, but seems just a little too perfect (Fergie? What?) then you need some Midtown Dickens in your life. Composed of Kym Register and Catherine Edgerton, Midtown Dickens are what I can only describe as “Discombobulated Pixie Rock”. It is petite but not fragile, thin but dense, and most of all imperfect, a quality that the band holds in high esteem, and judging from their music, it is. Employing such “instruments” as banjo, tuba, skateboards and a saw, these women make fun music that makes ya want to grab your ipod and go skipping in the rain all the way to the mall where you spend money that you don’t have because you forgot all of your troubles way back at the first track. So check them out and let yourself get wrapped up in the zany world of Midtown Dickens. Go where it takes you, but just for safety sake, leave your purse at home.
